Remember the good ol' days of drive-in movie theaters? There'd be popcorn, classic cars and, of course your date for the night.
Apparently, there used to be more than just drive-in theaters. According to this photo story by Life photographer Sam Shere, drive-in churches used to be a real thing too. Dating all the way back to 1947, these photos give us a peek into a very different era.
Much like the theater concept, a large crowd of people would pull up to the same location and get ready to hear the weekly message on their radio.
Just like a traditional church, it looks like several of the congregation members would fall asleep during the sermon. Sleeping in the car looks a whole lot more comfortable than sleeping on a pew.
